It kind of felt like the stories were cut short. Maybe because we deal with two background stories in one book instead of one book each. This would possibly have given more room for more depth.
But I enjoyed the emotionally ride with Sarah and Chris.

This entire series was so raw and heartbreakingly beautiful. But this book broke me down to my core.

5 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️ UGHHH! First off, I don’t know why it took me so long to finally read this book. Clipped Wings is my absolute favorite romance series of all time. I have read them three times, but could not bring myself to read Chris and Sarah’s story until now.

WHAT A MISTAKE! Helena has a way of keeping readers completely immersed in her books, making it near impossible to put the book down. Fractures in Ink was no exception. Chris and Sarah’s stories were heartbreaking, but their individual strength and the way they care for each other and those around them just has you rooting hard for their happily ever after. Chris is the perfect mixture of strong protector and gentle love that compliments Sarah’s independence and quiet nature. I absolutely love this story and am so so sad there isn’t another book for them! Highly recommend this book and the whole series!

Aw man 🥺 this one got me right in the feels, it’s darker than previous books. Great way to round out the series. Recurring themes of sexual harassment, exploitation and assault.

I loved the MCs in this one. I connected a lot to Chris & Sarah’s struggle with modern day poverty & determination to break the cycles they grew up in. Especially that feeling of missing out on intimacy & comfort from those you’re closest with due to working too many jobs or unsociable hours. Falling asleep mid-conversation or meal, alarm blaring a couple hours later to get up & do it all over again. Just too damn relatable.

I love the idea of this series and where it is going. I think it has a great foundation for the rest of the series. The characters are really well throughout. I didn't get hooked like Helena's previous books which are more rom com and I found this to be more emotional.

Loved it! So raw and real but not cliche in the fact they didn't fight what they felt for each other. I couldn't put it down because I was Team Chris/Sarah allll the way!

I am so happy Chris and Sarah got their story. For anyone who's read Tenley and Hayden's 2 books, you know this was a couple that had you wondering if they would ever be able to get their shite together.

Chris and Sarah have had a thing for a few months by the time FRACTURES IN INK start Both of them have feelings for the other, but are both terrified to put any label on it. But when Sarah pushes Chris away, it's time to cop to the feelings and figure out how to move forward.

Both Chris and Sarah have their own demons chasing after them. Chris' has to do with his lack of self-worth thanks to his mother and step-father and Sarah's from her mother and terrified she's going to be just like her. Those demons ride Chris and Sarah hard. And it seems no matter how hard they try to get away from them, something pulls them closer. What both of them seem to forgot it they have this other person they could lean on for support. Someone to help them talk through whatever they're going through and figure out what to do next. They both need that support, but for some reason they don't feel like burdening the person they're sleeping with. It was frustrating, but at the same time you could see why they were doing it. As the story moved forward you had to hope they would figure it out and things would get better for them.

Helena Hunting is great with romantic comedy, but I'm glad she went back to this angsty series. This is what introduced to me to Helena and she picked up the angst right where we left off with Tenley and Hayden. I thoroughly loved this book, these characters and how they fought so hard to get that happily ever after. Definitely a top read for 2016.

"We're all broken, Sarah. It's not always about fixing the parts that don't work; it's about making the most of the ones that do."

The Clipped Wings series was the first books I read by Helena Hunting. I loved the first two books A LOT! Especially Chris and Sarah intrigued me a lot and I couldn't wait for their FULL-LENGTH novel to release. When I saw that Fractures in Ink would release SOON, I was super excited and couldn't wait to get my hands on it.

"Separately, these struggles could break us down. But maybe if we could hold on to each other and figure them out together... we could stop the fractures from becoming too big and keep the cracks from forming fissures we couldn't repair."

Chris and Sarah were perfect for each other. They were obvious both broken characters that are trying to make the best out of their lives. They both think they aren't good enough for each other. I wanted to shake them both and tell them they were perfect for each other. There were a couple of times where both Chris and Sarah pushed the other away. I loved how the author handled those situations a lot. Chris was amazing he was so loyal and protective of the people he loves. He did his best to take care of his family and friends. Chris is a perfect book boyfriend, plus he is a tattoo artist and that is always a plus (FREE TATTOOS!!). Sarah did her best to be independent and do everything on her own, but sometimes there is too much going on and it is okay to ask for help from your loved ones.

"You work hard to take care of the people you love. You're loyal, and you're as beautiful on the inside as you are on the outside."

What I loved most about this book was the character development for both Chris and Sarah as individuals and as a couple. This book was COMPLETE in my eyes. The side characters added a very important layer to the story and I love them. It had enough suspense, romance and sad moments. I was completely sucked into the story. I really hope there will be more books in this series. I especially want Ivy, Chris' sister, to get her how book.
