I love Lark's ability to see memories. As heartbreaking as they almost all seem to be at this point, I feel it will allow her to see people better and not to make as harsh of judgements. I don't understand why she doesn't consult the Mother about what to do with magical objects. You would think their Goddess would want to remove those items from circulation. Their Goddess seems to have a mean streak. Makes me think of Loki almost.

Eh. This book was okay. Not really better than the first, but not worse either. For some reason, I couldn't really get into it. Despite the book being short, it feels too long, like things are being drawn out. Lark survives a ridiculous amount of things. It's at the point where it's not at all realistic and makes me roll my eyes instead.
The relationship between Bella and Lark was forced. The two hated each other in the first book, but Bella's personality completely changed in this one. She's supposed to be seen as misunderstood because every bad thing she did, it was her mother's fault. I don't buy it at all. Nothing about their newfound sisterly love seemed genuine. It just bothered me.
The romance bothered me too. It was completely bland and lacked a severe amount of chemistry. It didn't seem genuine either. As I'm beginning to see, a lot of things about this series just seems forced.

Lark is level headed and I like that. This one features the water elementals. Lots of action, mystery, & drama.

So *many* disappointingly frustrating typos/grammatical errors. Kept distracting from a pretty darn good book & knocked a star off from being a 4.

I liked this one, but not quite as much as the first. While there were a lot of interesting characters and "creatures", I think it was the water city setting that wasn't quite as interesting to me. I do like how Shannon Mayer takes seemingly "bad" people and shows us how they came to be that way and then shows us that they can be good too.

4.5 loved it! Fast paced, plot twists and plenty of action. I love Lark she is a great MC and it was good to get some more backstory on Bella. Intrigued to see what else will unfold in this series.

This book felt so long for the length! In a good way though!

I really did enjoy the twists and turns I didn't know what way they were going to fall whether one was bad and another good so I enjoyed being surprised!
