The build up to the mystery in this book feels a bit slow and overly-meandering but ultimately a fun Florida mystery investigated by a guy’s guy detective with some unexpected twists and turns.
The few references/threats of sexual assault, especially towards Rosa after she was kidnapped, made some of the scenes less enjoyable to read, even when funny things would happen soon after. However I understand that none of the characters are supposed to be super likable and it definitely didn’t ruin my enjoyment of the book overall.
Very few completely likable characters, but if that isn’t something you need then you’ll have a good time leaning in to Yancy’s smarmy attitude.

A "detective" mystery novel where the detective we fallow isn't really a detective at all. A very humorous and light mystery novel. If you don't like dislikable characters this might not be the book for you. However if your fine with the "good guy" being alittle shandy and dishonest and alot of humor and ridiculous hijinks this may work for you
Graphic: Death
Moderate: Ableism, Cultural appropriation, and Drug use
