This is a historical epic of America's founding as told through the eyes of a rebel soldier fighting against the English. In a time when England was struggling to claim colonist land, tax citizens, and generally disrupt everyday life, groups of rebels banned together to fight back.
Usually first issue comics get a four star rating from me because they focus so much on world building that they forget to include character development. Surprisingly, this was not the case with Rebels. Not only did this issue flesh out the main cast of characters, but it also did a fabulous job of describing the overarching plot line and the world these characters live in. The artwork was stellar and beautifully detailed.
I look forward to reading the rest of this series.
