So, technically I read the 61 Illustrated National Parks: Expanded Edition, but Goodreads doesn't have it and I wasn't bothered enough to make it (especially as there's already a listing for [b:62 Illustrated National Parks|56265705|62 Illustrated National Parks|Nathan Anderson|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1607842226l/56265705._SX50_.jpg|87655114] which added White Sands National Park, added in December 2019).

I've always loved the Anderson Design Group's WPA-inspired art for the National Parks and other tourist sites, and it's nice to have them collected here perfect for the armchair traveler. My only minor quibble is how often Nathan uses the words 'pristine', 'unspoiled' etc. to describe wilderness that in another paragraph or two he'll mention has 4-wheeling or other activities. Of course, that's a greater philosophical question: what exactly IS pristine, and what boundaries would we put on it? Nevertheless, this is a nice coffeetable browse through America's best idea.

I loved this. It was so informative and the illustrations were gorgeous. Its such a cool book and made me feel nostalgic for parks I've been to, and inspired to visit parks I've never been to before.
