How hard is it to rate an anthology? Think about it, many stories by an equal number of authors each with their own style. Rating a collection is easy… one author, one voice. Perfection is in the eye of the reader. Readers are asking the editor (or editors) to choose only perfect stories. We all know that this is impossible.

O HOLY NIGHT IN DEATHLEHEM comes very close to reaching the goal of presenting ghoulish tales of Christmas in the most horrific light. If you are not an aficionado of the horror genre, you won't understand that this is a good thing.

As you read from story to story, you will be presented with everything psychological terror to the absolute gross out. Again, this is a good thing. I thought that all of the stories worked well, but I was put off by the poems. Somehow my brain refused to pick up the cadence that they seemed to want to parody.

Most of us think of Christmas as a time of glad tidings and joy shared with friends and family. O HOLY NIGHT IN DEATHLEHEM actually brings us back to the reality of loneliness and abject sadness that far too many people experience during the holiday season.

I would be remiss in not mentioning that this book benefits The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation whose mission is "Until no child has AIDS."
