Fantastic ending to the series!

I LOVED Inessa and Ilya. They had fantastic chemistry. Ilya just melts my heart.
I think what I really enjoyed about this one above the first three is that all three were about a fighter and an "outsider" essentially. This one involves two of the slaves in the same type of lifestyles: one being used for sex, and one used as a killing machine. We get to really experience the type of underground world these books take place from male and female POV rather than just male like the others.

I don't have much to say on this novel. I read it in one sitting and just loved every moment of it. Its one of my favorites of the series.

This one was so hard for. Me. I don't do our main characters sleeping with other people... im a cheesy insta love and forever kind of girl but this story sucks you in you feel for 152 and 901. You want to come to their rescue. But this story shows so much about love being shared in the hardest of circumstances. That what this whole series has shown that and I honestly love it. It's dark and raw and absolutely beautiful

FYI- This series must be read in order. You cannot fully understand what is going on otherwise.

For those of you who fell in love/lust/need with 818(Luka), 221 (Zaal), and even 194 (Valentin), you know these men were savages. They lived for the kill but each one has been brought to his knees by a female. They readjusted to life outside of the cage. Yet they still seek something...someone.

Valentin still searches for Nessa, his little sister. Torn apart by a promise he hasn't been able to uphold, Valentin will not give up. Neither will his brothers.

The bond formed by their tragic lives has made them stronger. But what lies ahead will test them all. Raze will bring it all down.

"If anyone ever decided to f@ck with us again, then as one: We would maim. We would slaughter. We would kill. Together, we would f@cking raze hell."

They are going to hell with the intention of destroying it. They will find her. They will free her, and in doing so- themselves, or they will die trying.

Talk about epic ending to a haunting story. The Scarred Souls series brings light to the darkness, hope to the hopeless, and love to those who don't know the word. It's an incredible journey to be a part of.

I really liked this one. Maybe not as much as Reap, but I thought the Blood Pit was a really interesting (and gruesome) setting and the new characters we were introduced to were interesting as well.

Again, as with (I think) pretty much all of Tillie Cole's books, the dialogue has a strange cadence to it. In this series I chock it up to everyone having Russian or Georgian accents; in the Hades Hangmen series I assume it's because all the women were in that compound. Not complaining, you just have to get used to it.

Also Rodion's name became Rodian in this book. Confused me for about 0.25 seconds.

I thought there could have been, not necessarily less chapters from Luka's POV, but they definitely didn't need to be as long as they were. Although having Luka's POV throughout the 3 following books was an interesting idea.

hi, hello, welcome to the weirdest fcking book i read in 2017.

i guess i have no one to blame but myself since i didn't thoroughly read the synopsis but i wasn't really expecting this medieval shit. essentially the story revolves around this TRULY ODD underground fighting pit/secret world that this sick fuck has created. he has men fight to the death, women are whores, and the undesirable women are like scullery maids.

like i said, truly fcking strange.

and in the midst of all this you have the "high whore" essentially fall in love with the champion fighter which is a BIG NO NO. and like obviously they find a way to escape.

so their relationship is kind of cute and i was definitely here for it, but it was just too weird of a book for me to really get into it. i felt kind of detached from the characters because the world was so weird (it was like impersonal kind of like a fairytale/ some historical fiction) AND we keep getting chapters from the point of view of the people that eventually save them but i just did not care??? i mean great for saving ur fam/friends from modern day slavery but i just don't care about your POV honestly.

overall, strange read. wouldn't really recommend. won't read the rest.

I have been so excited to read Riot ever since we met Valentin and learned about Inessa in Ravage and Ms. Cole did not disappoint! It was even better than I was expecting and while they were high, they were easily reached. Riot was just outstanding and it's without a doubt one of the best books I've read so far this year!

Inessa wasn't at all who I thought she would be. I thought she was going to be dark and indifferent, but nothing could be further from the truth. Granted, she can't remember every bad thing that happened to her, she senses and knows things, but that hasn't made her into a hard person. Inessa is soft and so sweet, she's really a bright spot in a world full of darkness. She is just so kind, but she's also strong, full of spirit, and has an iron will. There wasn't anything that I didn't loved about Inessa - she's absolutely amazing!

I fell so hard for Ilya. He does everything he can to make sure he has no weaknesses and he's cold, stoic, and hard at first, but once he meets Inessa and spends time with her, his walls start crumbling down. And when they do - oh, it was so beautiful and heart melting to watch. I think I said it in another Scarred Souls book review, but there's something about these warriors that get you and Ilya was no different. What he feels for Inessa is so pure and true and undeniable that it just touches your heart and you can't help but lose your heart to him and the others. Ilya completely and utterly stole my heart - I loved him wholly.

I don't know if Riot is the last book in this series - I sincerely hope that it's not - but if it is, then Ms. Cole definitely saved the best for last! There was so much heart and meat and bones to this book. It's a heart pounding, thrilling, action-packed story that is heartbreaking, gut wrenching, and breathtaking. Riot is beautiful, sweet, and epic - I just wholeheartedly loved it!

Riot is the fourth book in the Scarred Souls series and while you could read it as a standalone, I would recommend reading them in order. It's mostly told from Ilya and Inessa's POV, but we do hear from Luca as well and Ilya and Inessa get their well-deserved, hard-fought happily-ever-after ending!

I jumped in to book 4 in the Scarred Souls series and I'll admit to having some initial world building confusion. I love a good mafia book (when it's done right) but what Tillie Cole had created with this series was so much more. As the story unfolded I was able to better understand and really enjoy. In the pits no one has a name and 901 is the Beast, never losing a challenge. 152 is slowing remember her life before coming a plaything to Master but she still isn't sure who or what to trust. As her memories slowly come back she knows that any comforts provided by Master will taken away and the comfort she finds in the arms of 901 is the real thing. But when they are used as pawns against each other they have to take the leap to remember who to trust, especially if it means escaping from the hell that has become their lives. Really enjoyed the story and even though I know how it ends I'm intrigued to go back and start from the beginning. Good read!

Trigger warning: This story does contain instances of non-consent

This book was a solid 3.5-4 stars for me before I got to about chapter 10. It was a bit slow but the ending and the wrap up to the series was amazing.
