There are so many plot holes and leaps of logic. Inconsistent world building.

Really, at big parts of the story I was annoyed. The mc family didn’t take very good care of these children and 10 years to find her and only the reach out for help. If you had opportunities to escape why just make a plan to run and why didn’t they question or interrogate Agnes then rescue immediately. The entire plot just had me annoyed .

This is the 1st book I've read from Claire Shaw. Her book Joker from the Sons Of Havoc MC: Texas Chapter was a great read. I couldn't put it down. This book is about Jason "Joker" and Carrie. Their story and everything that's happened to them was a tear-jerker and left me wanting to hurt someone for Carrie, I felt so bad for her and all she lost.
Joker and Carrie grew up best friends living next door to each other. Both their dads were in the Sons Of Havoc MC. When she was young her addict mom had her little brother Johnny who she practically raised as her son cause her mom couldn't take care of him. Her dad unfortunately had to do time in jail when she needed him the most. Joker and his dad Bull took care of them and watched over them. When they became teenagers they realized they loved each other. When cps found out that her dad was in jail and her mom wasn't fit to take care of them they ended up in the system. Joker and the club were able to find Johnny years later and he's a prospect in the club but they never found Carrie. Reck, Carrie and Johnnys dad is getting out and he doesn't even know Johnny exists or that Carrie is missing. When he went in he requested to know nothing about what was going on outside so nobody told him. Next thing Joker knows, he's meeting Beau, his and Carrie's son.
Joker's search for Carrie doubles more than it has since she's gone missing. He knows she's out there and he wants her back not just for him now but their son to. And thankfully he finds her but she has demons. Being held captive for years and the things she lived through. She is one hell of a fighter and survivor. She's determined to get better for her son and for Joker, the love of her life. And Joker is ready to help her anyway he can. Will they find that love they had before losing each other? I sure hope so. This is the 1st book in the Sons Of Havoc MC: Texas Chapter series and it's a great start. I can't wait for the rest of the series to come out. The way Claire Shaw writes about trauma is as realistic as it is scary.
