I’ve never read a book by Perci T. Brooks and I feel so bad because I wanted so much to like this story. Sadly, it was not meant to be. This was a story that lacked passion and trying way too hard. It reads like "My first MM" and I just couldn’t lose myself in it. Not even a little. Prince Amory made his home a sanctuary for the LGBT people in his father’s Kingdom. He falls in love with a servant his father was abusing and after many confrontations with his father Amory loses everything. The setup of the story is essentially that of a series but I am not emotionally invested nor interested in the fate of any of these characters. Hopefully Brooks, will write a follow up and tie up the lose ends for those that have enjoyed the book. Hopefully the plot and character development will be stronger in the follow up.
