This was such a cute and lovely historical romance. I really enjoy reading books by Amalie Howard because they always have strong willed amazing fmcs and hot mmc’s and this wasn’t any different. I really enjoyed the fmc in this one is a wallflower that is not well liked by the ton after an incident happened during her first season. The mmc is a Scottish duke who is in financial situation after his brother died. He is forced into because of his brothers vow  a situation which requires him to seduce the fmc and get her to London with her sister.

The banter between the main characters on this one was so so good. I loved how stubborn and strong willed the fmc was especially when it came her conversations with the mmc. I liked how much the fmc cared for animals and rescuing them as well. The main characters were opposites and immediately had so much tension. I loved the hook up benefits thing they had going on cause it was hot and they matched each others freaks very well lol 🤭. This is a loosely 10 things I hate about you inspired and I would rec this for lovers of steamy and fun historical romance. Thank you Forever for the arc.

I really like Amalie Howard’s work, but this book didn’t work for me as well as I had hoped. What I liked: I loved the concept of a 10 Things I Hate about You re-telling (which of course was a retelling of The Taming of the Shrew). I loved that Evangeline was devoted to animals and founded her own animal shelter. I really appreciate it the research that Ms. Howard put into this book, as evidenced by her substantial author’s note. This is a strength of all of her books; they are  well-researched, and she really dives into the period she’s writing about. Having read the previous books in the series, I always love seeing the Hellfire Kitties together and really appreciate how this series emphasizes strong friendships between women.

Unfortunately, what didn’t work as well for me was the couple. Maybe it’s because recently I’ve read a couple books in a row where the plot is the FMC approaching the MMC for sexual exploration/education, but I’m not feeling the instalust. I’d like to see more of a relationship at first and more build up to the sex.

"The Worst Duke in London" is the latest book in the "Taming of the Dukes" series. I really enjoy author Amalie Howard's unique ability to write regency romances using modern language and situations in a way that doesn't give me the cringe. Lady Evangeline is a homebody-- until she meets Gage. He pays attention to her interests and helps her expand them. I liked the pacing of the book a lot. I didn't enjoy the storyline of Mary Tealby, it felt very forced.

Thank you Netgalley for a free arc in exchange for an honest review.

I already had high hopes for this because it's Amalie Howard and then reading the synopsis knowing it was a 10 Things I Hate About You I was fully invested. But my expectations were exceeded. I am truly obsessed with this book and I don't know when I'm going to find another book that makes me feel like I did after reading this one. I was obsessed with the characters and I loved that there was a virgin hero. What a great time.

Thank you Netgalley and Forever Grand Central Publishing for the ARC. All thoughts are my own.

This was a nice read. This series is one that I enjoy because of the FMC's and this one did not disappoint, asking for what they want and taking hold of their futures. I also love when we see FMCs in regency who know what's happening and aren't clueless, I also love when we see an MMC with less experience and I felt like this was a good mix of the both.

This book did feel a tad bit rushed,  I just felt like the ending came a little quick. That being said everything was resolved and there was nothing that was left hanging, I just felt like the resolution at the end was a little faster than I anticipated, maybe in part because of how the rest of the book felt.

I did enjoy it and would recommend! I also enjoyed seeing the next book set up in this one as well. I am excited to read Briar's book next.
