Forgettable. I wish I could say it's because of the toxic masculinity like the rest of the women going off in these reviews but that's not it (like hello, we are supposed to hate the MC here, yeah? That's the point... Does this make me a bad female?)
Written well, it just wasn't for me though I can't explain why... This book has left me stumped on a review.

The authors, descriptive writing really made me squirm. They described the rot and decay that bastard underneath the new side of this house in a way that kept the tension steady, even inquired moments. The framing of this novel is. largely hung on the structure of toxic masculinity. in someways, the novel is strong enough to exist without horror at all the story of a declining marriage fight and eventual alignment with the patriarchy. I like this take on the haunted house trope. I think the final third got a bit slow, but I ultimately found the end satisfying

I had fun with this. It’s ridiculous for sure but I thought the camp worked

Unfortunately, this one just wasn’t for me. The premise was SUPER interesting, but the execution just fell short for me. I couldn’t really connect with any of the characters, and by the end, I disliked all of them. I had high hopes, but unfortunately the experience just didn’t live up.
