So much better than Demon Crown. I loved the interactions between Katherine and Gluttony.

Emma Hamm comes back with her spicy seven deadly sins series! I am writing this review as I received an ARC. This is my honest review.

Book 3 in the series we are once again introduced to Gluttony. He was seen last in Greed’s book (book 2). He is definitely a dreamy demon. All us girlies who love the vampires are going to love this book.

He meets Katherine who also has a disability. Which I thought was good representation. The way the characters are together was such good…SPICE BABY SPICE. It had a good amount to build up the kingdom, the characters, and plot. Even if it’s minimal. Still very good

If you liked the previous two books then you will like this one. I have a feeling Envy’s book might be next.

This series is a delight.

I really really like the two main characters in this book. Gluttony was interesting in the last book, and in this one even more so. Katherine is a delightful main character, and I very happy to have a softer female lead. She is never going to be a fighter or a warrior and that is okay. She is perfect as is. I am also exceptionally glad that she isn’t “cured” of her limp/leg. Too often, characters are depicted with disabilities that are magically cured as if that is the happily ever after.

I am so ready for the next book and I am devastated that it isn’t out yet. I want all of their stories so badly, especially with the exposition at the end of this one.

4/5 stars.

Kat & Gluttony - I did NOT see their force coming to sweep me away as the favorite of this ongoing three-book series. And yet.. here we are and I'm not mad about it.

The scene: Gluttony's kingdom is not as opulent as the two brothers we've read about so far. In fact, its literally a boggy, marshy, swampy type of kingdom where living is hard and working is all people know - its an honest living but no one is exactly thrilled to live here. Poverty is the name of the game and folks will do just about anything to get a little more coin.. even if it means making a deal with their unscrupulous, blood-drinking king.

Written in dual POV, my favorite, we learn as we read that Kat has been independently on her own, making her way, with debilitating injuries sustained in childhood. She gets no real support from the community she lives in but manages to feel understanding and empathy with her fellow townsfolk. As is wont to happen, a chance encounter with a spirit places her in the sights of Gluttony.

Gluttony, the emo sad boi of his family, has decided he's so monstrous that no one needs to be near him - thinking it better to let his kingdom fend for itself rather than impose his abhorrent presence on his subjects, he lives in his castle and exchanges his coin or other items to the people brave enough to ask it of him. Lonely and so tired from being the outcast for so many years, Kat is a light in his darkness, even though her bargain makes him feel that he's only as good as what he can give.

Kat has a backbone of steel and a heart of literal gold - she shows up for her people when they want nothing to do with her and decides that she is worth sacrificing if it means they'll be safe. Gluttony, exposed to Kat's kindness and determination to help all those around her, finds that he may be a monster ruling his kingdom but he would very much like to be her monster.

Watching Kat do literally nothing but be herself around this man who is so misunderstood and stews faithfully in his self-hatred gives the most heart-touching feelings.. a romance where the FMC is able to reach the MMC purely by the way she shows him with actions, not just words, that he is worthy.

If you like:
- a Beauty and the Beast aesthetic where she radiates light enough for him to be warmed by it, too
- the story of Dracula, but if Dracula was a broken man beat down by his own self-loathing and allows for the misunderstanding of his character to go unchecked because he seeks self-punishment
- seeing how the MMC finally feels like who he is is enough, and embraces all that he is and will become..
.. you're going to inhale this book. Definitely check out books 1 and 2 as they're equally as delightful and you'll see some repeat characters here, but I would argue it's just as easily consumed (pun intended lol) as a standalone... but trust me, you'll pick up the others anyway.
