It is a nice YA-book that combines romance with a family mystery.
Having that said, the main character really annoyed me at times.

The first few chapters of the book were a bit slow paced but once you get passed those chapters you start to truly learn about the characters Abby, Leo and Connie. I definitely would recommend this book to others who are looking for a lighthearted and inspiring read. There are definitely lots of lessons in the book that push you to think and look at each perspective before making a decision based on the relationship Abby and Savvy have with their families.

It started out slow and a bit cringey (still not over that she only refers to her camera as "kitty" 😅), but I'm so glad I pushed through, because I ended up absolutely adoring this book!

Are we really still doing regular HP mentions and pretending teenagers use Tumblr in a book published in 2021? Apparently we are. Also very cringe plot point that a friend who lies and causes one of the major plot elements.... does it because it's hinted she is Ace-spec. It's very vague, but she hints at lying because she isn't interested in romantic love. A perfect example to me of rep backfiring and feeling derogatory towards the group of people the author is trying to include.

Also this book really feels like it has an identity crisis, of being a book for adults or a book for teens. So much of it feels out of touch with actual 2021 era teenagers, while simultaneously feeling too immature to be adult fiction. It read like a classic 'this is the book I wished I had growing up'.

I am going to keep this review short because I feel like other reviews have already summarized my thoughts fairly well. Unfortunately, I did not enjoy YOU HAVE A MATCH as much as I did with Emma Lord's debut, TWEET CUTE. I felt a bit lost while reading due to the many elements included. For starters, readers are following two teenagers meeting at a summer camp because they found out through a DNA service that they are twin sisters. Then there are the secrets and issues with their families, relationship and friendship drama with both sisters, inner conflicts with the main female characters' hobbies and social media profiles... There were just too many elements happening for me to fully follow and enjoy the story. I felt I was being whipped around to follow multiple things and struggled to keep up, especially since there are two perspectives and many side characters involved in their lives. I think this book would have benefited from those elements being better balanced like some being completely taken out to be used in a different story, some shortened and others going further in depth. Other than that, I enjoyed the overall premise and was interested in the story. I felt there were influences from other places like The Parent Trap that came into play. Whether intentional or not, I enjoyed them.
