this book was a highly anticipated read for me, just like the rest of emilt henry's books. and even though i always look forward to reading her books i just cant find myself loving any of them. i dont know what it is, maybe its her writing (not that shes a bad writer shes amazing) but i just feel like her books dont live up to the hype in my world. funny story especially based off the synopsis i thought i was gonna love because the dynamic of the relationship and characters was somewhat relatable to my own life (no further elaboration) but nope! i did like this and i enjoyed reading it but its a bit forgettable for me.
my ranking of her books since ive read all of them:
1. people we meet on vacation (i literally do not remember this at all but i remember liking it at the time i was reading it)
2. happy place
3. funny story
4. book lovers
5. beach read (DNFed during a reading slump)

For a feel-good-escapist read, I'd recommend it although it was just okay.
The beginning and ending were nice. I liked the story and the majority of the characters, although they did fall into a lot of clichés, were nice enough to follow. The sister became a little annoyed because she is just pure cliché and lacks any sort of originality, but she is a side character who actually doesn't play a role in the story so I guess she doesn't need to be original.
The middle was a little draggy and boring. But that's a personal thing because I like a story like this to have more drama or interactions with the exes which only existed in a simple way. We spent a lot more time following our main characters, Daphne and Miles, and focusing on their journey and their relationship.
For that reason, I'd recommend this book for someone looking for a real feel-good, healing from a breakup romance but I had just hoped for a little more petty revenge from Daphne and Miles and their Fakeship. Given also the blurb which says "while tossing back tequilas, they form a plan", so I truly expected the Fakeship to have more impact than it really did in regards to their exes.
Like I said, it's fine. I don't have too many opinions about it.
