“The title Death to Jar Sauce is a meteoritical fist in the air saying ‘f%ck this shit’ in protest against boring-as-f*ck instant pre-made garbage, and a high five to having a red-hot go at cooking awesome feeds yourself.”

I don’t think I’ve ever had the pleasure of reviewing a cook book prior to this one, how could I not review this champion?

If you don’t know who Nat is you’re probably living under a rock, he’s one of the funniest humans alive and in lockdown started a segment on his Instagram where he’d cook and compare instant meals vs meals made from scratch.

These recipes are 10/10, each one carefully created and illustrated in a graphic novel format. They are easy takes on some favourites including some vegan options and desserts. Each recipe has a carefully chosen name and inspiring quote to go hand in hand with the method.

This book is full of Nat’s trade mark cheek and humour. There’s also a fuck tonne of swear words. I’m a huge fan of Nat and absolutely loved Un-cook yourself and couldn’t wait to get my hands on Death to Jar a Sauce. The illustrations are just as phenomenal courtesy of Sydney artists Bunkwaa, Glenno, Warrick McMiles and Onnie O'Leary.

I cannot wait to give the Gnoch-on or f#ck off chilli tomato gnocchi a go.

It's certainly a Nat's What I Reckon cookbook! Great art (as I said in my review for UN-COOK YOURSELF, I think comic-style is a great way to illustrate cooking instructions), good looking recipes, and some fun little text asides about various topics.
