A STEAMY, dual POV, #ownvoices, office romance featuring Afro-Latina characters. Full of heart, found family and messy, complicated birth families. I fell in love with Rocco and Julia!! Native New Yorkers, the two find themselves working together when Rocco is brought in to help prepare the Dallas company where Julia works as they get ready for an IPO.

I loved how much heart went into these characters!! Rocco is a big softie, always looking out for his sister but hardly ever doing anything for himself. While Julia is trying to make a life for herself after following her boyfriend across the country only to get dumped. These two try to resist their instant attraction, knowing Rocco will be leaving after a few months but things heat up quickly. The chemistry between these two was OFF THE CHARTS!! Highly recommended for fans of Talia Hibbert, Priscilla Oliveras or Alana Albertson. I can't wait to read the second book in this series when it comes out!

I received a copy of Here to Stay through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Here to Stay is set in Texas with two New Yorker implants, Julia and Rocco. Julia is in charge of running an after school program that helps many kids and their families and Rocco is the consultant helping the programs parent company decide what needs to be cut in turning the company into an IPO. The romance between the two is slow burning, but in the end everything comes together for them.

Here to Stay was a good read and a well written romance. The romance itself was very slow burning and it took me a while to get into it, but by the end I was really happy with how everything came together. I couldn’t really connect with either Julia or Rocco and their in your face New Yorker ways, but they do make a good couple. I found this romance to be you average romance, neither the best or the worst romance I’ve read. If you like slow burning romances it’s worth giving it a try.

I’ve been a fan of Adriana Herrera’s since the New York-set Dreamers series, and I was excited to see what she could do in Texas. HERE TO STAY did not disappoint in that regard - the scenes between Julia and Rocco were hot as hell. And through it all, I sensed cultural pride, a strong sense of family (both biological and logical), a good balance of fun scenes and hard-hitting issues, and a setting that was almost as much a character as any of the people. And speaking of people, I can’t wait to see whose story is next!

Here to Stay is a great book with a lot of feelings. It follows two NYC expats who are working in Dallas, Julia and Rocco. Julia works at a non-profit for immigrant children and Rocco is the numbers guy who might potentially get her program cut. The best part of the book is Julia's family, both her Dominican/Puerto Rican family back in NYC, and the group of friends who are all transplants from NYC, dubbed the Exiles. Here to Stay is touches on tough topics, like immigration and family trauma, but it is also a joyful book about fashion, family, and friendship. (How's that for alliteration?) It's a great read for the end of a tough day. You'll definitely laugh, you might cry a little, and you'll end with a happy sigh.

(I was provided an advanced copy by Netgalley. However, the opinions here are my own. )

Don't let that adorable cover fool you, this book is HOT! This is the first book I've read by Adriana Herrera, but it will not be the last.

This book was a workplace romance full of family, friends, and lots of steam! I'm fairly certain it was pitched as hate to love, but I definitely didn't get that at all. Rocco made her nervous because of his job, but I never got hate. I really loved so many aspects of this book, such as the diversity, the friendships (The Gotom Exiles were great), and family (obsessed with Julia's grandma). I enjoyed Julia as a main character. I think she was determined to make her own way, full of sass, but was also a sweetheart. I liked Rocco enough. I loved how much he loved his sister and niece, and wanted to do whatever to take care of them. This book is full of steam and dirty talk, I loved the tension and build up between Julia and Rocco. I feel like they formed a great friendship and once they actually communicated they were great together. I real liked the ending/epilogue. What I didn't love about this book was all the noncommunication. I know it's a thing especially in romance novels, but it's not for me. Like I feel like so much of their issues would be non issues if they just said what they were thinking (like the conflict). I read this ebook and listened to the audiobook, and I really enjoyed the narrator's on the audiobook. I'm assuming the rest of the Exiles will get a book, and I will do read them.
