For the first time in my life, I will say I liked the movie more than the book. Still, this book does a really good job of portraying middle school angst. I feel for anyone who's in middle school and defy anyone who survived it not to shudder when they think of it. More complete review to come.

Interesting. Definitely directed to a middle school-age.

For my birthday I got a lovely boxset containing 1 to 5, and my boyfriend also gave me #6 in this series.

Finally had a chance to read how it all started! Really great book. :)

This was a reread of a childhood fav that I have not read since I left primary school, and I really wanna reread the rest of the other books. I love that it was a short audiobook from Libby but I do want to rebuy the series as hardbacks or paperbacks so I can own them and read them again. I definitely recommend this series to anyone who wants a quick middle grade book.

Quotes:
- “If there's one thing I learned from Rodrick, it's to set people's expectations real low so you end up surprising them by practically doing nothing at all.”
- “The best person I know is Myself.”
- “Dear Aunt Loretta, Thank you so much for the awesome pants! How did you know I wanted that for Christmas? I love the way the pants look on my legs! All my friends will be so jealous that I have my very own pants. Thank you for making this the best Christmas ever! Sincerely, Greg”
- “Be yourself and people will like you.”
- “I'm having a seriously hard time getting used to the fact that summer is over and I have to get out of bed every morning to go to school.”
- “Let me just say for the record that I think middle school is the dumbest idea ever invented. You got kids like me who haven't hit a growth spurt yet mixed in with these gorillas who need to shave twice a day.”
