The Reptile Room by Lemony Snicket

The first half of “The Reptile Room” is almost gleeful, as the Baudelaire orphans actually enjoy the company of guardian Montgomery Montgomery (Uncle Monty). However, reptiles, coconut cream cake and movies are swept aside once Count Olaf appears as Stephano, one of his many guises. Once Uncle Monty is killed, the narrative slows down considerably, with the climax being more of a necessity than a creative apex. Nevertheless, Daniel Handler creates a pleasing sequel, leaving the poor orphans to suffer the wrath of another adventure.

Uncle Monty is a heck of a lot more annoying than I remember.

I 100% cried at the ending as the Baudelaire’s said goodbye to the incredibly deadly viper.

The Baudelaire children get placed with a new guardian, Uncle Monty, a kind herpetologist with a large room that is filled with the creatures he studies. But soon enough, Count Olaf returns and the life of the Baudelaire's changes again.

This was really good and a really short read. Even though the things that take place in this series are extremely upsetting I still recommend this book.
