Not the best but a classic murder with a fine plot.

Incredibly predictable lol.

Maybe it's because I read a Dutch translation but the writing style wasn't my cup of tea.

This book was published nearly 90 years ago and, by modern standards, some remarks could be considered racist but given the context of the book, I think it can't be helped. Setting aside this negative aspect, the mystery itself is excellent (best in fact among her books regarding alibi). As with character development, I think she has done a fantastic job shedding light on each character on board the ship. My only complaint is that this book is a bit too long and some unnecessary conversations can be eliminated (especially those concerning her traveling).

It was alright, pretty slow in parts and definitely dated. But still loved the mystery and complex characters

I wanted to give this 2 stars because the plot was pretty good. BUT it was racist as hell, further compounded by the audio book being done by a white man completely making a caricature of the people of color and women. Yikes. Examples: people from the “orient” are “uneducated” and native Egyptians are seen as pests and given cringey voices on the audio book.

Also, minor spoiler, there’s no justice. The murderers kill them selves and the other petty thieves get a slap on the wrist.

Really good for one of her problematic travel ones - I see why she thinks it's the best of these.
