Absolutely amazing. My one critique is that I wish Lacey May was more active at the end of the book, instead of passive.

She gets rescued at the end through other people. It would have been great if she had been the one to get help

Still, terrific book, and I would definitely recommend it to people who want to read more about fictional cults.

feels v clever to use the brainwashing/ownership of bodies (or vern literally referring to a collective singular The Body) to parallel lacey's own trauma and relationship to her body. also somehow read two books ultimately about motherhood and mental health in the same day so true? very few thoughts to add besides a heavy heavy content warning for sexual violence!!
