What beautifully dark story with a flood of healing and redemption. The main character Opal is a fighter and life hasn't been kind. Then Starling House starts to call her and soon she finds herself entranced by the owner and a house that is alive. This book follows a supernatural bend. It is carefully done. By the end you ask yourself is a nightmare really a bad dream.

The general story arc on this one was familiar but the way it was told felt brand new. I really loved this book!

Thanks to MacMillan Audio and NetGalley for the ALC in exchange for an honest review!

This audiobook was absolutely perfect for another long drive this summer! The narrator (Natalie Naudus) nailed the balance between engaging enough to keep me entertained for 12 hours and soothing/level enough not to wake me if I nodded off. And although Harrow has said she intended the book to give spring/summer, I'm getting in the line of folks insisting it's giving autumn 😄 I mean, how could it not, considering one of the main characters is a spooky house with its own personality? It's also got a strong-willed, back-talking woman and a self-sacrificing disaster bi of a man — what more could you want? Add it to your TBR!!

I enjoyed Starling House. It was a good book, but it didn't leave me wanting to rave about it. It had good suspense writing and I really enjoyed how it almost read like an oral history in parts. The ending and message were satisfying. But this wasn't a book that left me wanting more.

A good spooky season read.
