Waste of time.
Child torture porn with no substance.
One of the authors worst.

This is the first book I’ve read by Aron Beauregard and will definitely NOT be the last! An absolute blood soaked masterpiece. It’s well-written and really puts you right in the middle of the bloodbath! I think my favourite chapter would have to be Scary Bastard, the absolute brutality in that chapter is horrendously good, it had me wincing at every other sentence but I couldn’t stop reading! The language that Aron uses when describing each kill is so disturbing and echoes through your mind when you read the words! “Fleshy wetness”, “Blood filled shitty gape”… yeah, it’s grim! The image I had in my head of Edmon was absolutely terrifying, I would not want to be standing in the way of him! I really liked his character, the wrath that he unleashed was both impressive and scary! If you want to learn more about his back story (which I did) you can read Try The New Candy. The ending, in my opinion, should not have happened the way it did and it left me feeling wrong and let down but it really does send a message out.
If you’re after an utter gorefest and a good storyline you have to read this book!

The racist Japanese caricature of a Chef and the line about his eyes kinda did it for me.

The violence is one thing. I can handle gore, but if you're just gonna write racism because you can using "it's extreme horror" then you probably shouldn't be writing Asian characters, or any other BIPOC characters. Like, making comments about the shape of an Asian person's eyes into a joke is kinda messed up.

There are also several subtle instances of random slut shaming for no reason that were kinda annoying to see.

I really wanted to like this book because I love extreme horror and how creative people writing in this genre can be. This was a huge let down though.

I loved this book so so much
It truly felt like an homage to Beauregard's works and his writing. It felt like a book for a fan of Beauregard and it truly was an amazing read.
I also thought his note at the end was really inciteful :)

Whelp, the title is fitting. & obviously someone is a fan of Michael Myers. I knew what I was getting into, so i cant very well comment too much on how extremely gorey & violent everything was, but I would definitely check your trigger warnings before divulging into this one. They dont call it splatterpunk for funzies; I'm not sure which chapters were worse. However, I did really like how the story was told - for a while in the beginning i wasnt sure if this was a bunch of short stories or if everything was connected (which it was) - such an interesting way to narrate. I also really loved that I already had a backstory on a few of these characters from reading "try the new candy" previously; I kind of like that he elaborates/continues certain storylines in other, separate works.
