In THE TORTURED WIND, Callista is part of a gang on an alien planet, fighting to survive and against the forces that suppress the people. She has visions of a man in her dreams and does not know his name. Sandsa is god of the deserts, meant to rule over the sands. When they meet, their connection is instantaneous, but Sandsa has abandoned his family and destiny and they’re in a state of constant war.

Every time I read a new book by Alyce Caswell, I’m impressed by how many different genres she can write well in. The world of THE TORTUED WIND is a brutal one, with warring gangs, constant street fights and bitter betrayals. The world building is outstanding. As the story progresses and Sandsa uses his power and influence to turn the tide of the war, and Callista uncovers truths she never wanted to know, the story just gets juicier and juicier. I couldn’t put this one down! 5/5 stars.
