Wolf Hall by Hilary Mantel

Too dull. Started off strong but then I just got bogged down with how slow it was, the amount of characters that didn't seem important, and not much in the way of a plot. I already know generally what happens with the key players through my limited knowledge of the Tudor period, at this point I'd rather watch the TV show.

Words, words, words. So beautifully written.

Never thought I'd read this dense historical fiction about which I didn't know anything. In school we were never acquainted with English monarch history. I wouldn't get anything of this masterpiece if there weren't a readalong by Simon. His notes every week are the only thing that kept me going forward. Nonetheless I enjoyed this 4 month read journey immensely. There were times when I wanted to protect Cromwell, even though I'm well aware of the final consequence. Mantel's mastery is simply above and beyond!
