This was one of the best books I’ve read in a long time. I’d put it on level with Harry Potter for me of all time favorites. It’s not warm and fuzzy but it’s an adventurous heroic book that never gets boring. Definitely will be continuing the series ✨

Loved it! I like the writing; I like the characters and story. Enjoyable and compelling. But WHY do I keep getting addicted to series that are unfinished! It is killing me. This one has a #2 I've ordered, but apparently he's been working on #3 for a LONG time. So add that to the list along with whatever comes after Oathbringer.... I need to get addicted to "old" already-finished series. :)

While I really enjoyed parts of this book; such as the classic fantasy tavern setting which felt like it was straight out of D&D, and was very invested in Kvothe's emotions towards the Chandrian, I felt like these good points ultimately fell flat when most of the book's time was spent in the University and not really progressing Kvothe's story beyond that. This book felt like a very long 700 pages and I had trouble finishing it when I realized that this was all we were going to get.

I'm sure (kind of) that the second book picks up the story more, but with the third book being nowhere in sight I will leave it at this for now.

Started for book club but didn’t have time to finish. May return to it another time.

A magical, emotional journey, populated with excellent characters. This book was such a treat, a philosophically profound and immersive high fantasy adventure that left me eager for the sequels!
