Very informative read. Each chapter focused on individual commanders of the Allied forces. Some commanders are more known than others. It delved into some interesting tales and escapades performed during WW2.

However, I felt that some of the biographies were not exactly covering new ground. There was some overlap with other literature. Although on reflection that is to be expected due to the vast amount of literature available on WW2.

I believe the title is somewhat misleading as the book does not answer the statement posed of ‘how the allies won the war’.

Doesn't tell you how command  practice altered during the war, but explains different levels of command and many personal experiences of commanders through a series of mini biographies
