Not really exciting or suspenseful, but an entertaining study of ordinary people and how they carry on in spite of whatever life burdens they carry.

I do like Kincaid and Gemma. I do like their perceptiveness and use of intuition. This one wasn’t full of tawdry characters as was the first. I will continue with this series. Glad I bumped into it.

In my opinion, this was decent overall. Although I had a fondness for the protagonist, I couldn't quite immerse myself into the plot as much as I did with the first book in the same series. That first book was more captivating and easier to read, which made it more enjoyable for me.

The pacing of this book was noticeably slower, and while I usually don't mind a slow burn in whodunnit storylines, this particular book was just a tad too sluggish for my liking.

Furthermore, I was able to guess the culprit quite early on, although the motive behind the crime was a bit harder to figure out.

My first e-book! I like Kincaid as the main character. The mystery was far from exciting, but I got what I expected and will eventually read more in this series.

I enjoyed this traditional British murder mystery more than the first in the series. It wasn't earth-shattering but was a pleasant listen and was the perfect thing to take my mind off the craziness in the world right now.

3.5 stars. Audiobook. Enjoyed character development and getting to know Duncan and Gemma; plot was okay
