A mother and son connect and communicate through fairy tales and it's beautiful.

In this story the parents are immigrants and the son is struggling to tell them about his sexuality so the author tackles both gay themes and the struggles around being an immigrant. The story is very emotional and just like in real life it has a variety of sad and happy moments.

It shows that the author really likes fairy tales and, as someone that grew up with fairy tales and is still very fond of them, it was a joy to see them represented with the knowledge that there are many different versions and that they are ever changing depending on the person that is telling the story. It isn't often that I find someone with the same appreciation for fairy tales that I have.

The art is beautiful (something that I already knew since I follow the author on instagram). I like the pacing shown through the use of the panels and the different colors to indicate the past, present and fairy tales. In comics, the writing and the art help each other to pass the message in the most effective way and that is why I love this medium so much.

I love this graphic novel and it is a new favourite.

"They're only stories. They'll change when they need to."

Touching story with wonderful illustration. The comparisons to fairytales (further expanded upon in the author's note) truly elevates the emotions.
