These poems were, admittedly, a little nature-heavy, for me, and I started this book thinking I wouldn't like it. The primary reason I was wrong about that is Wilson's talent for style and language - very short lines where every word carries weight, forcing you to lean on every syllable and line break to obtain the full meaning of each poem. Upon first reading them, the poems felt as though they were floating a lot on description, and I somewhat wished they were more grounded in narrative involving human life, as well. However, when I reread some of them, I realized the stories were there all along, embedded in the landscape Wilson practically paints with words.

A great debut of poems very concentrated on detail and description, yet thought-provoking as well (side note: the cover looks simplistic, but is a pretty accurate depiction of the work contained within).
