I enjoyed this! I'm really only familiar with Domino from the Deadpool movie, so I didn't know most of her side characters here. But I liked that at its core it was a book about female friendship! And Gail Simone, per usj, delivers on snappy dialogue.

Simone is an exceptional writer of characters. Her stories are good, but not as great as the fun I have along the way. I'll still read the next one.

70/100.

It's been a while since I read a trade paperback this quickly!

I really enjoyed this! I'm not surprised considering I tend to adore everything I read by Gail Simone. However, like Plastic Man, I'd never read anything about this character before. Aside from Deadpool 2, I knew nothing about Neena Thurman/Domino.

I really liked the set up of this book. The story was engaging, there were twists and turns that were entertaining and the character work was phenomenal. I loved Neena, but I also really loved Outlaw, Diamondback and the appearances from Deadpool.
SpoilerShang Chi was a very welcome surprise and it was a really unique choice having him help Neena work on her focus and improve her control.

Neena's backstory could've been another rehash of the child experimentation trope that's attached to just about every mutant you can imagine, but it was given a twist
Spoilerwith Neena's successes meaning Dedmond's losses
. It gave the villains an interesting motive and you actually feel for them. It's clever writing to give a villain a sympathetic motive while also showing that they must be stopped.
SpoilerI liked that Outlaw and Domino both tried to extend a friendly hand and end the bloodshed.

The action scenes were all really well done! The jokes all landed and the artwork was an added avenue for visual gags.
SpoilerI was surprisingly into Shang Chi/Neena.

Over all, I really vibed with this. It's a clear recommend from me. The only little downside for me is that I felt like the mole thread was revealed and wrapped up a little too quickly and felt just a tiny bit underwhelming considering it's what drove Neena to isolate herself and led to Outlaw and Diamondback chasing after Topaz and Desmond on their own in the first place. But definitely a solid recommend from me!
