Particularly fantastic to read at night! Well-plotted and well-paced horror story, it is slow and yet it just built the dread. Plays very much into human instinct to be afraid of places we can't fully see.  Sometime the inclination to investigate takes you bad places. Simon and Kara's friendship was amazing - Simon was the best person to ever live.

The cat was a star, by the way, as was Prince.

The ending though! I never expected to hear myself call taxidermy and Uncle Earl's strange old museum endearing and yet! Endearing taxidermy.

let's hope I never find a weird hole in my house that takes me to another world

I liked the author's style and I'll probably read another Kingfisher book, though I'd have liked more horror? it felt more like an action/adventure story

I don’t really know what I expected when I started this book but I loved the ride! It’s so weird and creepy and original. The characters were fun and the whole concept of the willow world is great! Such a fun read!!

Pretty entertaining, though I kept wishing the audiobook was like 2 hours shorter.
