Anyone who’s read my reviews of Talia Hibbert books in the past will know what I’m about to write. I loved this. Her authorial voice and writing style just work for me. Everything clicks and I eat it all up. I thought Hibbert handled the age gap+secret pining+forbidden romance well here and at no point did I feel it got weird or creepy. I also really appreciated the cameos we got from other books she wrote around this time. James and Nina were adorable together.
Minor: Racism and Stalking

Firstly, it's hard to rate novellas, but as far as novellas go this was the best it could have been. I am a huge Talia Hibbert fan, so I might be biased. She writes the most real characters out of any author I know. This novella was no exception even at its length. Somehow she even packed feminism and politics into this tiny book. I was sort of nervous because on Goodreads, reviews were mixed. You know why? The politics. And to that I say, "Why can't politics be sexy too?" Because that is what this story accomplished. Talia made caring about social justice hot. :spicy: Anyone who can achieve that gets free publicity from me all day long. This book is the most non-toxic :nontoxic: book I have ever read. Yes, the love is pretty insta (the spiciness starts on page 1), but by the end you are still smiling like a goofball while you cheer on the characters who you spent less than 100 pages with. When you need to feel good about humanity again in under two hours, read this for instant serotonin.
