Ok this ended up being a fun read despite some of the qualms I had. The beginning wasn’t stellar and cringy with pop culture references and annoying tropes of a young stepmom with two kids who hate her. Once the action started happening it was really a page turner to find out what was going to happen to the characters. Some of the gory details will be sticking with me for awhile. Some of the final reveals at the end felt underdeveloped.

What on earth is this? Awful storyline. I very rarely DNF books but this I just couldn't read.

Absolutely loved this book. It was fast paced and suspenseful and overall just a fun story.

In some respects, I was rooting for the “bad guys” as the protagonists weren’t terribly likable.

The plot rocketed forward, giving me a few WTF moments. Several things bugged me about the story … not just how far-fetched it was. One of which was that I would have liked a better showdown with Ma. Sometimes the kids were grownups and sometimes babies; it was tough to pin down their place in the story.

I liked The Chain but I LOVED The Island!! I can now see why this book is being a TV series. This book is frightening and kept me on the edge of my seat the whole entire time.

This book is almost 400 pages but it is so fast paced that it goes by so fast. Highly highly recommend this book if you’re looking for a good thriller.
