This book was fine, but without the overarching mystery of Charlie’s father to be solved, I don’t feel as compelled by what’s going on as I did in the first five books.

Picked it up because it reminded me of Harry Potter. Finished the series because it was its own story and a very good one at that.

I often found myself struggling to pick this up and finish reading it, I put it off for so long. The further the series goes on, the less enthusiastic I get about the books. They feel like a chore to read, and I honestly feel so lucky that I haven't bought the last two books yet, I can give myself a little break from them.

I admit, there were some good parts, but most of all I felt tired reading it...I didn't enjoy it much.

Was hoping to see a little bit more of his relationship with his dad develope, but wasn't meant to be in this book. Also wish there had been more closure with the whole plot line of the bad-guy-planning-to-drown-his-dad thing. Perhaps it is being saved for the next installment. Overall, solid writing, still nothing inappropriate for younger readers.

This was quite a long book where nothing much happened. No major secrets were revealed, nothing major happened to any character, and nothing new was resolved besides things with Asa. Kind of a waste of a book in a series in my opinion.

Interesting side journey with Asa Pike - but not very gripping
