The Hobbit is one of my all time favourite adventure novels. Bilbo Baggins, ordinary and unassuming is thrown into an epic fantasy roadtrip with a band of brave, uncouth dwarfs on their way to steal back their gold and homeland from a dragon. I can’t think of a better story of personal growth and high fantasy. This book will always have a dear place in my heart. I’ve laughed at Bilbo’s uninvited guests, agonized over their long journey through the goblin mountains and evil forests, cheered for the reclamation of a homeland and the deader of evil, and cried at the end of a noble bloodline. Absolutely perfect in every way.

i’m too adhd for audiobooks i will just think about something else for fifteen minutes then remember i’ve been listening to an audiobook only to go back and realize all i missed were descriptions of hills and trees and the most boring dialogue in the world. i also can’t smell audiobooks 👎😑

Much more lighthearted and fun than it's sequel Lord of the Rings. Almost like a children's story comparing the two, from the writing style and more upbeat moments of the story. Still a great way to get into the series in an easier way.
