Funny in places, silly to the extreme but not quite my cup of tea.

Absurdity, interdimensional mice, hyper-intelligent shades of the colour blue and towels

I really really liked this book.Incredibly funny and metaphoric.
"For instance, the first phase is characterized by the question How can we eat? the second by the question Why do we eat? and the third by the question Where shall we have lunch?"
Simply adored it.

okay I absolutely adore this book, the great thing about this book it is that is really easy to mistake it for just a humorous and amazing adventure, but if you do that then you completely miss Douglas Adams' witty social commentary.
The story is first rate, if you only know the story from the movie then you are really missing out. I know you have heard this before, but the book is better, alot better, since the movie stunk.
One of the amazing things about this book and series is that you like the characters as characters without caring one bit about them as people. Arthur is whiny and annoying, Zaphod is pompous and strange, Ford is, well Ford doesn't really care about anything and that is a little off putting as a person. But they make a fantastic cast of characters for a book.
I am not a sci-fi fan and can not think of another pure science fiction book that i enjoy, not one, but I love this book.
