This book was such an uphill battle for me. There are pieces that are interesting--"Hair," for example--but overall it was paced so slowly and required the reader to bring all the emotions to the page.

This was fine. In places, the writing was beautiful. I've essentially come to realize, though, that I'm not as into chronological memoir.
