After a garou hunt goes south and Jane finds a suspicious-like bite on her arm, she turns tail for Deadwood, where there’s talk of a garou cure. But rumors can be deceiving—meaning the gang better hightail it after her before they’re a day late and a Jane short.

I absolutely loved [b: My Lady Jane|22840421|My Lady Jane (The Lady Janies, #1)|Cynthia Hand|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1444923765l/22840421._SY75_.jpg|42397220] and found [b: My Plain Jane|36301023|My Plain Jane (The Lady Janies, #2)|Cynthia Hand|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1507936746l/36301023._SY75_.jpg|51943406] incredibly boring. Other than the fact that I knew this was a new Jane installment and it was about westerns and werewolves, I didn't know much else (I didn't even read the synopsis). The only historical books I read are from the regency period — suffice it to say this isn't my usual cup of tea. I actually enjoyed it fairly well though it did have some boring moments.
The mystery of The Alpha and the reason behind an increase in werewolf bites didn't really intrigue me; I much preferred to spend my attention on developing relationships between some of the characters.
Wild Bill: based on his name, you'd think this guy was a complete nutcase that just happened to be really, really good at shooting. And while in this Bill's younger days he was a deadshot, he's actually more of a grandfather figure now. He leads the show with stories of his sharpshooter days and leads his facsimile family (family!!!) with his werewolf hunting expertise.
Calamity Jane: man, this girl has had it rough but she's rougher. While she earned the name Calamity Jane because of a succession of, well, calamities...I was really left wishing there were more that effected her life through the book in a comedic way. Regardless, I really liked her development when she met Winnie.
Frank (Pistol Prince): the playboy of the gang, he was completely won over by a strong-headed, determined girl that not only challenged him to a shooting competition...she won. He melted and it was wholesome.
Annie (Oakley): as previous books, this is a character that starts as someone else and becomes the historical figure that we've heard. And...the reason for the name Oakley? Perf. (And I saw that twist coming.)
All-in-all, it was a good read though I'm starting to think they're not able to surpass the ease and humor that really made [b: My Lady Jane|22840421|My Lady Jane (The Lady Janies, #1)|Cynthia Hand|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1444923765l/22840421._SY75_.jpg|42397220] shine.
Recommended as a library read or those that just want a little something light and bizarre.

This is so good and my exact brand of weird. I love the references and the humor. An iconic third book in a series!

This was cute!
I really enjoyed this one, not as much as the others in this series just because I don’t love westerns. I thought the concept was interesting. Once again I knew nothing about these historical figures so it was interesting to learn a little( obviously a lot was changed). I loved that there was different representation in this as well! I also appreciated how the authors would talk about events like native Americans and guns. I just really enjoyed this series and I’m excited to start the Mary one!

I finally finished!! It took me a couple of months to commit to actually reading this gigantic book but once I finally did, I blew through it. I loved this whole series and I'm now adding all kinds of books about Jane and Annie to my wishlist.

A fun ride from beginning to end. However, the constant narrator interruptions and fact that ... ended up feeling a bit ridiculous, and not in a good way.
The books seems to pride itself on clever pop culture references, some of which were very effective, and some of which felt more like hitting your thumb with a hammer.
