What a wild ride. This series certainly doesn't lead where you expect. There are some "grown-up" themes in these books so if your kid doesn't yet know about murder, the mob, criminals, etc, you may want to wait until middle school (7th or 8th grade) to let them read this series. The kids certainly knock out quite a few adults even though they seem contrite.

Until the very end, when I reached the part about the waterfall, I pictured Malik totally differently. I wish they would not have put the kids on the cover.

A good follow up to book one with a cliffhanger ending! Whoa. So many surprises in this one.
