I listened to the audiobook by Joe Hempel.
This book was AMAZING! There is no other way to put it. The title and summary had me worried for an average or less than average story that I wouldn’t enjoy. But, I was surprised by the quality of this story.
I usually avoid comedy books because they often aren’t great at timing. But this story got it just right. Many times I was laughing unbearably.
The fantasy aspect was okay, but some of the mystery left a desire for more.
Joe Hempel has real talent. He portrays Evan as “the average joe” while still giving feeling. The different characters have distinct voices and are easily recognized. It was a masterful performance that I am happy I heard.
If I could I would rate it higher, I would. It’s now one of my new favorites for sure.

Cyclops Road has the perfect blend of horror, fantasy, mystery and...well, there are several genres represented, so I will stick to perfect blend. I especially enjoyed the humor. The characters are well-developed and the two protagonists are very easy to root for in this crazy and wild adventure. The plot is weird and twisted but I laughed out loud several times and even snorted once. I enjoyed reading it very much and the best part is that I knew it would be great because all of Jeff Strand's books, that I've read, are awesome. I highly recommend it and hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
