For the most part, I really liked this book. I found Nao's chapters to be engaging and powerful. Ruth's chapters were less so, but they were necessary to drive the message through of the "now." And the magical realism toward the end that made time converge so that the now could exist for both Nao and Ruth across time was pretty brilliant. I also love learning more about quantum physics. That being said, I would get bored when I would get to Ruth's chapters and some of the plot dragged, which is why I couldn't give this 5 stars.

This was thoughtful and interesting, but the ending felt a little too conveniently “solved” and happy and tied up neatly. I almost wanted less of an explanation or probable reason for everything. Although I guess the author never really does “explain” out how the length of the diary changes spontaneously.

A very interesting book that I will probably think about for a while. This book talked about subjects that I’ve never read about before, and I learned a lot. I really liked both perspectives. I liked how we learned about many different characters, not just the main ones.  It did such a good job at showing things instead of telling, which is a sign of good writing.

I wasn’t moved emotionally but I was definitely fascinated by the story. Also because it was fun to accidentally read a story set in a place you care very much about (Vancouver Island area for me).

The ending could’ve been more satisfying but overall I’m very glad I read this book.
