I only read 56% of the book before I had to give up (which I RARELY do with books). I’d had high hopes for this book—being a psychology major with therapy experience. But my interest quickly waned with this self-indulgent, chronically-chaotic memoir. Gottlieb finds herself funny and witty, when really her story-telling reads as convoluted and pretentious.
The only redeeming quality was the psychological information.
Overall, I truly don’t recommend this book.
Especially if you don’t want to become paranoid in therapy.

A sweet book that was a nice balance of humor, kindness, reflection, lowkey some sadness, with a sprinkle of psych theories throughout. I enjoyed reading it and following the stories - esp John’s and Julie’s - but for some reason it didn’t pull me in quite as much as I would’ve wished, that would’ve pushed it up to 4 stars
