The first in the Broken Souls paranormal romance series, revolving around dragon shifters desperate to keep their people alive. The couple focus is on Ember and Niko.

My Take
Woods has a cute idea, but it could use work. More show, less tell. The insta-love was annoying, as was the insta-trust!

Ember is a renown journalist looking for his sister, she believes was kidnap and trafficked.
Nikolai is trying to preserve his people, the dragon kind, trying to find their soul mates.
Ember thinks that Niko is behind her sister disappearance, so she went to his private party to found out he's secret.

I really laugh out loud with this steamy funny (absurd) paranormal romance. A very quick read to have fun.

Real short, it's insta-lust/love, which I don't love, and the conflict solves itself way too quickly and without much effort from the protagonists. Still entertaining.

This author is one of my favourites. I enjoyed the character interaction - that there was a purpose to the actions the characters took and a reason. It moved very fast, for reasonable plot reasons but I wouldn't have minded it being a bit longer and slower. I enjoyed the setup for the next books.

This was a fun ride, nothing really amazing but something to lift my spirit :)

I am not big on the shifters, but I can stomach through. And I'm all up for the soulmate trope if it's done right.
But when there are lines like, I wanna kiss you while we make a child in your womb, no thanks.
That just isn't my thing.

The only thing I did like were the narrators.

I thought this was a fairly enjoyable read and interesting world building. Though the entire book felt rushed and I would have preferred it to slow down some.
