I accidentally read the last book in this series first and was excited when I realised I had the first book. I really want to read the second book now

Well, the last 40 minutes (audiobook) saved the book from getting two stars. I did love the love story - once Evangelin stopped LYING all the time. And I loved Finnikin. Still, there were definitely places where my brain shut off. I might have to re-read this in book form. And when I said it reminded me of Patrick Rothfuss, it wasn't the story or even the character so much as the voice. And maybe that was only because of all the weird place names. I don't know. Sorry, Finnikin, Pat still wins. But overall, pretty good.

I really enjoyed this book and got sucked in relatively quickly. The only problem holding it back from being five stars is that I got lost quite often, especially at the beginning, with the intricate details. I love the twist and the romantic aspects of this story.

DNF at 50%.

This was just not for me. It was slow and I didn’t really see what the entire point of the plot was. It kept changing over and over again and I really didn’t know what they were doing by the time I finished reading. I just couldn’t take it anymore and I don’t want to force myself to finish it when I really was not into it.

I have the highest praise for this one. It started out a little slow at first but once I got in to it I read the most beautiful, tragic, and most of all inspiring book I have read in quite a while. Brilliant!
