I really love the Vanderbeekers and their extended family (because Miss Josie, Mr. Jeet, and Mr. Biederman are a part of their family), and I adore the beautiful garden they created. The Vanderbeeker books are full of good people who love each other and take care of each other, and that's such a beautiful thing.

The Vanderbeekers are so enduring! I have loved getting to know their family and neighborhood these last few days, and the second book was even better than the first! These books would making amazing read alouds for my kids. I especially appreciate all the book references and the fact that their family looks like mine!

The Vanderbeekers are such a pleasant family to laugh with, learn from and easily imagine in your mind. They’re a family you wish you knew and their community makes you wish you lived in a brownstone in Harlem.

This was so cute and heartwarming, exactly what I expected from this series after having read the first book. I missed Isa a little, but enjoyed Laney's antics a lot so that kind of made it up. I'd definitely gift this book to my nieces and nephews.

I wasn’t sure if the second book in this series could deliver all the heart-warming magic like the first. Well, happy to say that I was wrong! Seriously, all the warm feelings for this follow-up story with all your favourite Vanderbeeker characters returning along with some new ones! And we’re already on to the third instalment, The Vanderbeekers to the Rescue.

Cute. Listened to a few chapters on audio. Missed Isa a little in this book.
