So this was over way too soon. It was so fun. Granted the small town shenanigans are like Gilmore Girls level ridiculous, but that's funny so I'll roll with it. I love the banter and the dynamic she sets up. And I love that it's not all light and fluffy. They both have issues.

The reason I am not giving this five Stars is primarily that as soon as they get together the PTSD that the heroine has been struggling with for years suddenly becomes a non issue - like within the span of 12 hours or so. Sure she had been making some progress on that front - baby steps really, but seriously it is still a major issue on Sunday morning and by Sunday evening it's gone?! I would have expected more work on that front. Also even before, her progress with that is pretty unidirectional. No setbacks. It would have been more interesting and more rewarding to explore that whole issue in the context of this new relationship. The book could have easily had like 100+ pages more without becoming overly long.

Besides that I am a little confused about the wife's death. Unless I am blind, we never find out how exactly she died and sometimes it sounds like it was rather sudden and other times it is implied that she had time to make requests and such. I'm hoping this will become a series and we find out more, but it should have been made clear in this book.

I absolutely adore Kylie Scott and I absolutely hate giving my favorite authors less than four stars but I couldn’t connect with these two. Overall, l it was a cute little small town romance.

Kylie Scott is a favorite of mine for contemporary romance. I like her famous-musician and regular-girl characters in all the various series.I liked the small town aspect of this one and the locals. The conflict was a little light/too easy but I guess these characters had enough emotional baggage that they deserved a break. Re: the cover of the paperback edition I bought online: the hot guy cover was $2 cheaper than the "discreet cover" (retailer's description, just a guitar on a wooden porch); my grandmothers taught me to never pass up a good deal! Publishing is interesting to me.

Bon bon bon ...

Short, light, sweet small town romance meets rockstar in hiding.
Ani and Garrett’s story is sweet, sexy and has heart.
The secondary characters are really great and considering the shortness of the book, I felt like they were multi-dimensional and a big part of the appeal, the fun and warmth of the story.
I loved the small town quirkiness, it was an adorable setting for a rockstar romance.
This story was too short for me to really feel the connection and romance strongly, however I really did like the characters and their story.
I think despite the short length the author was able to give a good amount of backstory on the main characters, really good setting and vibe for the town and secondary characters.
The romance doesn’t happen early and the build up is oddly short in my opinion. It goes from 0-60 MPH basically. It’s very insta-love. I’m not a big fan of insta, I would have liked more build up to their romance.
I did enjoy the story and I think the characters are really entertaining.
Ani and Garrett’s sexy scenes are hot, the banter between them was very cute and clever.
I did enjoy their initial adversarial relationship. It gave it a bit of fire and heat.
It’s a really sweet, fast romance with great characters.
I’d love it more if it was longer, there were a few serious issues that I think could have been explored more and it would have made for some good angst and an overall deeper story.
I enjoyed it quite a bit despite not being an insta-love fan. It’s a light, fun story.
I’d love to see Garrett’s band mate Smith get a book, he was charming, arrogant and surprisingly kind. I think his story could be very interesting.

Oh My, how I have missed reading Kylie Scott's books. She has such a diverse group of characters. They are realistic, and for the most part, very likable. My heart wept for Garrett, the rockstar, who lost his wife two years ago. He moves to small town Wildwood in the middle of the night.

Ani watches as someone moves into the house next door. It sold years ago, but remained empty until now. Ani is cautious. Ani is fearful. Why move in cloaked in darkness? What are they hiding? She is soon drawn to the new neighbor and he is drawn to her.

Famous in a Small Town is a beautiful romance about two broken people. The journey to happily ever after may seem fast, but they deal with a lot. It is time to let the past go. When you know, you just have to accept and go with it. Garrett and Ani are just perfect. Of course they had a little help from Smith, one of Garrett's band members. I would really like to read his story.

The only reason I got to 65% into this was because I was at the seaside and my options at night were either this book or the loud trap music of the 16 year old neighbours I had in the room next to me. I still wonder if perhaps I made the wrong choice.

This story is pretty much the result of hitting a "random trope generator" button and then putting those on page with the writing skills of a low level Wattpad fanfic. It was lacking in any sort of flavor and even tho' my expectations weren't high I was still severely underwhelmed by the amount of cringing I was doing. Really, my shoulders need a deep tissue massage at this point.

Unfortunately would not recommend, the author has better romances. DNF.

“She makes me want to keep living. She makes me want to write songs and get up in the morning and go out and actually have a fucking life. I cannot overstate her importance to me.”

I really liked this book! I think the storyline was great, but it did feel like insta-love close to the end, and I wasn’t a huge fan of the ending. I still gave it 4 stars because it kept my interest peaked. Garrett was obviously my favorite character and I loved how all in he was with Ani. For being only 226 pages, it could’ve been a bit longer to really tie up the ending, but never the less I enjoyed it.

"This is the problem with having a celebrity crush. For as long as they're out there in the big wide world somewhere, being unattainable, it's fine. But when they move in next door, things get complicated."

Famous in a Small Town somehow blends slow-burn and insta-love into this unique combination that works for this fun, quick, steamy read. Perfect for anyone looking for a shorter read (it's about one-hundred pages shorter than my average romance read) that delivers all the heartfelt emotions, sweet and tender moments, and humor without a lot of complications. With a small-town feel and potential for more character stories─maybe Smith and Astrid?─you'll want to add Famous in a Small Town to your to-be-read list.
