I don't know what to rate this, so don't be surprised if I change the rating.

I didn't hate it but, I sure as hell didn't like it either.

The plot was okay, a tad annoying, but not bad. I have to say, though son of superman wasn't my cup of tea it was heaps better than this one. I might have change my rating for son of superman, because I appreciate it more now.

The plot was pretty bland though there are a few things that stand out. The artwork wasn't my favorite but I felt it worked well with story, though Wonder Woman's design irked me a bit. Lois didn't impress me in this one though, in son of superman she was pretty badass

I have a few questions:

SuperLex?

Weird dude in green hood, whatcha doing? Also, who are you?

Human Clark Kent, dafuq?

Why the hell does rebirth have so many duplicate characters now?

Two Lois lanes, possibly three idk.
Two Wally Wests,
Two Clark Kents...
I'm starting to get overwhelmed and confused.

Overall, I'm not impressed.

A good way reboot Superman in the Rebirth DC arc, and while it provides a good intro to recently introduced characters, the battle is drawn out and there's little backstory offered for pre-Rebirth characters/situations. (e-galley from NetGalley and DC Comics)

An amazing start to the Rebirth series, with plenty of interesting questions left unanswered, and great art. Overall Pretty freaking badass.

This is definitely in the top tier of the Rebirth books I've read so far. Really it's just about everything I want from a Superman book. Action, some intrigue, a bit of characterization. I dig it.

the story was a bit interesting but the art work was too cartoonish for my taste, all big round eyes and soft edges. i already own the second volume so might as well finish the story eventually.

*Spoilers for all of Rebirth

Synopsis: This volume begins with Lex Luthor stopping a robbery, claiming to be Metropolis' new superman. Superman sees this on television and races off to confront Luthor, leaving Jon and Lois at home. During the physical confrontation between Superman and Lex, it is revealed that the robbery Lex stopped was a distraction. Other members of this criminal gang were stealing something. The something turns out to be Doomsday, who obviously breaks out. Meanwhile, Jimmy Olsen encounters another Clark Kent.

Supes and Lex throw down with Doomsday for a long ass time, during which both are made aware of this mysterious human Clark Kent. Dr. Oz observes the fight on computer screens. The human Clark Kent is nearly killed during the battle when Wonder Woman saves him at the last minute. Doomsday then, seemingly, runs away from the fight, until Superman realizes he is hunting Jon. Under orders from Supes, Wonder Woman takes Lois and Jon to the Watchtower for safekeeping. Superman is able to lure Doomsday to the Fortress of Solitude.

Jon convinces Wonder Woman to go help his dad in the fight. Eventually, Superman is able to shoot the Phantom Zone projector at Doomsday, seemingly sending him to the Phantom Zone. However, it is revealed that Dr. Oz took Doomsday at the last second and is currently keeping him somewhere unknown. Superman and Lex have a conversation about becoming allies, but Superman refuses to agree until he is sure about this Lex Luthor.

Review: I could see people potentially not caring for this book because it is simplistic and not a lot goes on, but as a kick off volume, I think it works extremely well. It has a much quicker pace than the Superman Rebirth book does, which is great. It's nice to have a book that takes its time and a book that is right to the point.

the "Path of Doom" arc establishes that the Lex Luthor of the New 52 is not the same Lex that pre-new 52 Superman knew, at least not at this point. So with that comes a lot of distrust from Superman because Lex has shown time and time again that he cannot be trusted, so why would this Lex be any different? One of Superman's biggest weaknesses is Lex because he is so consumed with this idea that Lex is completely incapable of being good and Superman is relentless in proving that fact. However, as people that read the New 52, we know that this Lex is different, so it is a bit disheartening that Superman can't give him the benefit of the doubt when he gives almost everyone except Lex the benefit of the doubt.

That being said, I can't really blame Supes for not trusting Lex because of their history together, even if this Lex doesn't have the same history with this Superman. It is nice to see Lex be a good guy, even though it is temporary. But for me, I feel like this was the beginning of Lex's fall into becoming a villain again at the end of Rebirth.

The Superman and Lex stuff was the strongest parts of the book for me and as for the weakest, it's Doomsday. Here's the thing about Doomsday, I think people either love him or hate him. I fall on the hate side because I just don't find Doomsday to be a compelling character. He doesn't speak or have any motivations outside of murdering Kryptonians. His origin is the most interesting part of him but it cannot make up for the rest of him. He's basically used here as he is always used: just a big monster for Superman to punch.

That's about it for this volume. I don't like it as much as the first Superman Rebirth volume, but it's still very good.

Actions Comics Vol. 1: Path of Doom was… good with some caveats.

The biggest caveat ended up being the art. The original artist only lasted two issues before a different artist took over and while some of the second artist’s panels were gorgeous others looked… not so great. In fact, a lot of it looked quite rough and it ended up being very distracting.

The story was fine. Not as interesting a starting point as Superman Vol.1 but fine. There was an emotional resonance that Superman Vol.1 had that this doesn’t. I also felt like… it just kind of went on and on. Like the battle against the Eradicator was big in Superman Vol.1 but it was more dynamic and changed as it went along. It really wasn’t until Wonder Woman showed up that things felt more interesting.

But it was fine. I liked it. It’s not the huge difference in quality like with Batman vs. Detective Comics (in Detective’s favour).

(Read as Single Issues) Reliving the first encounter with Doomsday through both Clark and Lois' eyes was compelling - Clark's wisdom and Lois' fear both came through. Very well done.
