“Scream meets Clueless in this YA horror from Adam Sass in which two gay teen BFFs find their friendship tested when a serial killer starts targeting their school’s Queer Club.”

This book is a YA horror/comedy.

Let me start off with what I liked about this book:

- [ ] The main character
- [ ] The start of the book
- [ ] The ending

What wasn’t my favorite:
- [ ] In my opinion this book was about 100 pages to long

A solid 3.5 stars. I really didn't know what to make of this book when I first started reading it. The characters felt pretty toxic and there were a lot of unrealistic reactions to the danger that was unfolding. But as the book went on the mystery and the plot absolutely grabbed me. Cole and Dearie slowly became more fleshed out and sympathetic. The writing is definitely geared towards teen readers, and I really appreciated that. It's so immediate and punchy. The comedic timing lands PERFECTLY and doesn't feel out of place in spite of the tragedy and the gore. The moral of this story is that romantic relationships while not always solve your loneliness, community and self love will. And it plays out in a really interesting (and slightly chilling bc murder) way.

What better way to kick off the fall season with a fast-paced horror thriller? Your Lonely Nights Are Over is gruesome and bloody, yet surprisingly fun for a book about a serial killer. It’s unique format makes you feel like you’re watching episodes of a TV show rather than just reading a book. Even though the characters aren’t that likable, which they’re already known for, I was hooked on seeing how they would clear their names as all evidence points to them as the killers. There were also some great underlying themes about discrimination, teen relationships, and friendships, which were naturally integrated into the story instead of seeming forced. A super campy, queer slasher book that will get you in the mood for Halloween!
