I have wanted to read The Race of the Birkebeiners for years, after the Norwegian skiing race piqued my interest. Based upon a saga, it is a rather slight but full-bodied tale about the way in which said race came about. The illustrations are nice, and this is a lovely volume to settle down with during a long winter's night.
