Michelle Obama’s words are eloquent and inspiring. Hearing her life story made me admire her even more than I already did. I would highly recommend this book.

I have rounded up my 4.5 stars to 5. This is a very well written memoir that shares personal background, thoughts and experiences, much of which was never in the news. I think for someone in such a big limelight that is an accomplishment worthy of the accolades and praise received for this book. Highly recommend whether you agree politically or not. There is a lot to learn from Michelle Obama and her experiences. Very intelligent memoir.

It was a nice read. I really liked the first half of the book where she explains her path, navigating life as a black woman in white male dominated spaces. I got a little bored when she started to talk about all of her different campaigns and initiatives, but maybe that's just me. What disappoints me is how she tries to humanize or straight away not talk about issues her husband was involved in, and where the USA, as usual, destroyed countries (she talks about Afghanistan, as if the American soldiers where more important than the native civilians, Iraq... and doesn't mention the fact that her husband initiated war in Yemen). I don't expect perfection, but I also don't expect hypocrisy or half-truths.

Warm and wise and so insightful. I listened to the audio version, and hearing Michelle Obama read her story was such a treat. Highly, highly recommended.

I really enjoyed reading Michelle's story...about her childhood and how she was raised, opportunities she was given along the way and what she did with them. I loved reading her observations of her husband and what motivated him, about their relationship, her opportunities in the White House, etc. Interesting read.

the incessant need to mention every person's skin colour or parental heritage put me off. I'm not American, so maybe it's a normal occurrence there, but it made me uncomfortable.

also, i was waiting for the book to get interesting and then I realised the entire book was going to have a similar tone to the first few chapters, so I gave up.
